Venice: take a walk on the quiet side
...a five-minute walk northwards from your front door brings you to the Palanca water bus stop where one of the efficient vaporettos will whisk you over to the Zattere on Dorsoduro, or to San Marco, in a matter of minutes.
From there, the city’s traditional attractions – such as the still hugely impressive Rialto bridge, or the Carpaccio masterpieces that adorn the Scuola di San Giorgio – are only minutes away on foot. But after a few hours of avoiding the ever-increasing barrage of camera-wielding tourists, it’s a relief to return to Giudecca where good food and the best views in Venice can be found in a handful of waterfront restaurants...
