Venetian property unmasked

...The island of Giudecca, a five-minute vaporetto ride across from the main body of Venice, is the focus of extensive redevelopment, with old warehouses being converted into sleek modern apartments just a stone's throw from the medieval city.

The biggest of these developments is called Judeca Nova and currently comprises three large apartment buildings looking out over the Lagoon to the south with views back to the old city, with more to be built.

Ann-Marie Doyle says the development is reminiscent of London Docklands. She adds "I think this is going to be the place to be". Among those who have already bought there is singer-songwriter Elton John.

Prices in one of the buildings range from €282,000 for a one-bedroom apartment to €460,000 for a three-bedroom or two-bedroom duplex with garden...
